Job Description
DLZ Corporation has a rewarding Professional Surveyor opportunity in our Burns Harbor, IN or Chicago IL office!
Duties & Responsibilities:
Perform surveying assignments of a varied nature, requiring a solid understanding of the principles of land surveying and planning, and the exercise of professional judgment.
Perform work with general guidance and supervision, or provide support to more experienced personnel.
Provide support to field staff.
Interpret and process field data.
Make exact measurements and determine property boundaries. Provide data relevant to the shape, contour, gravitation, location, elevation, or dimension of land or land features on or near the earth's surface for engineering, construction, and other purposes
Prepare and maintain sketches, maps, reports, and legal descriptions of surveys to describe, certify, and assume liability for work performed.
Perform survey duties, including the following:
Deed, survey, mapping, etc. research through local, county and state offices
Computations to perform and complete survey
Coordination with Survey/Project Manager to pool necessary survey personnel to assist with survey
Preparation of legal description, plat, topographic map, etc., to complete project
Preparation of topographic surveys using Unmanned Aircraft Systems, LiDAR, laser scanning, and conventional methods.
Assist office, survey and right-of-way acquisition personnel with project description and location, determining legal boundaries, interpretation of deeds, etc.
Perform all work in a safe and responsible manner, in accordance with the Health and Safety Plan.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Surveying / Mapping, Engineering Technology, Construction Technology, Mechanical Technology or another related field preferred. Applicant should have obtained, or be in the process of obtaining coursework necessary for licensure as a Professional Surveyor in Indiana.
1 or more years' relevant experience.
Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Surveying (FS) with eligibility to become a licensed Professional Surveyor (PS) preferred.
Must be dependable with a valid and insurable driving record
The ability to work over 40 hours per week and travel is required
CAD experience is required
Experience with any of the following is beneficial:
Hydrographic Surveying, both field and office processing
AutoCAD Civil 3D
Bentley MicroStation
Laser Trackers
Laser Scanners
Drones (UAS's)
Possess aptitude to act as a positive representative of the company and its core values
Ability to visit and safely traverse construction and project sites and complying with all applicable safety codes and requirements.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
