Sr. Big Data Hadoop Developer:
KSN Technologies, Inc. in Chesterton, IN is seeking Senior Big Data Hadoop Developers to maintain, administer and develop custom applications on Hadoop and its ecosystems. Individuals will apply advanced theoretical knowledge of computer science and engineering principles and concepts as well as experience with Big Data development to perform the following duties:
- Install, configure and administer popular Hadoop distributions such as Cloudera, Hortonworks and MapR.
- Architect, design and develop robust, high-volume, low-latency solutions for Big Data problems.
- Import and export large volumes of structured, semi-structured and unstructured data into Big Data platforms using PIG and MapReduce.
- Develop user-defined functions and write complex ad hoc queries in Hive for data analysis. Automate data loading into Hadoop clusters using Flume and other standard tools.
- Develop Hadoop integrations for data ingestions, data mining and data processing capabilities.
- Perform real-time analytics on large volumes of data by developing applications on Apache Storm and integrating with Apache Kafka.
- Perform data analytics by writing PIG Latin scripts.
This position does not supervise other personnel.
As assigned, perform other duties normal to the occupation.
Minimum requirements: Master's degree in Computer Science, or any related STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) field that provided the required knowledge and abilities, and three (3) years of related experience that provided the required skills and abilities. In lieu of the stated primary education and experience requirements, employer will accept related Bachelor's degree and five (5) years of related, progressive, post-degree experience that provided the required skills and abilities.
Position requires demonstrable experience and proficiency with the following:
- Big Data.
- Hadoop.
- Apache Storm.
- Apache Kafka.
- Java.
- Flume.
- PIG.
- Hive.
Any suitable combination of education, training or experience is acceptable. The term suitable, in this context, means substantial compatibility with stated academic level and job experience requirements, and ability to perform job duties.

No travel or telecommuting. Job duties are project-based and performed on long-term assignments at various unanticipated sites within the U.S. which may require relocation at the end of the project.
